I love the holidays and more specifically, I love decorating for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Thanksgiving and Christmas just make me feel warm on the inside, especially when it is cold outside. Today I’ll share with you my favorite Thanksgiving decorating ideas.
I like decorating for the holidays because it’s fun and simple. Not the decorations like a model home, but the simple decorations that you get your children to help you with or decorations you can put out even though you have children in your house. I basically try not to use breakable decorations.

Crazy Simple Thanksgiving Decorating Ideas!
One of the first things you think about when decorating for any occasion is to think about what you think of when you think of the occasion. When I think of Thanksgiving I think of leaves, pumpkins, apples, corn, cornucopia, and turkeys. I don’t know why I think of apples but I do. Anyway, the point is you will want to decorate with what makes you think of Thanksgiving.
Decorate with candles
One of the best ways to warm up a house and make it smell good is either with candles or potpourri. I love the smell of apples, or pumpkin and cinnamon spice. You can buy scented candles at any retail store or potpourri. You may also try to make your own potpourri. It doesn’t have to look pretty you are just trying to make the house smell good. (I could never get potpourri to look nice.)

When having guests over for this special November holiday, the table should be just the start of your decorating. Consider expanding your Thanksgiving decor from your table to other rooms of the house and even outside to your front yard. Consider these creative tips when decorating the indoors and the outdoors for Thanksgiving.
Add a few pillows
Inside your home, dress your furniture with the signs of the season. Buy a fall-colored throw for your sofa and consider buying matching pillows for each corner. Another way to display the festive decor is by placing a Thanksgiving mat outside of your front door.

This also serves to keep the wonderful fall foliage outside of the house instead of ending up on the newly cleaned floors. Remember to roll out a table runner that best matches your tabletop and consider buying a floral centerpiece for the occasion. Even gourds and pumpkins can add a festive touch throughout the interior of your home by creating an ambiance when going from room to room.
Don’t forget these decorating Thanksgiving ideas for the other rooms as well
Make sure to remember the guest room and the bathroom when filling the house with your Thanksgiving decor. The guest room is the perfect place to consider the holiday season because each holiday brings guests.
Find a fall-inspired quilt for the foot of the bed and place pillows on the bed that has leaves, pumpkins, or turkeys on them. Fill a vase with wheat stems and leave it by the bed. Even the bathroom can be decorated for Thanksgiving. Consider purchasing towels with fall colors and a decorative hand towel with pumpkin, acorn, or leaf embroidery. Be sure to stop by your favorite scent store for a bathroom spray that is reminiscent of the fall.

A wreath on the door
In your front yard, keep those pumpkins from Halloween to decorate for Thanksgiving. Pairing pumpkins with other types of gourds is a great reminder of the bounty to be celebrated on Thanksgiving. Don’t forget about an awesome Thanksgiving wreath for your front door!

If you live in a cooler climate and have access to dried leaves, take the leaves and spray paint each side with either silver or gold spray paint. Hang these either from bare trees or along the edge of your front porch railing. Consider placing a festive wreath on your door to make a final statement. Not only can guests enjoy the colorful display, but you will also inspire your neighbors to enjoy the season.
Never think of holiday decorating as a chore, but instead, get into the spirit with a family decorating party. Drink apple cider, bake a pumpkin pie, and spread the Thanksgiving spirit throughout your home. Be creative and show your hospitality with your display of Thanksgiving decor!
Other simple decorating for Thanksgiving ideas
You may want to buy strands of colorful leaves. You can either hang them around doorways or use them for centerpiece decorations. You may want to set up a cornucopia on your porch or doorstep. You can have your children help with this. Put the leaves down and then set the cornucopia up with real or imitation of the following: harvest corn, pumpkins, and gourds. Put red apples out for color as well.
Buy a little turkey to set on your dining room table to make a centerpiece with. You can put two candlesticks on the table with the turkey in the middle and you now have a Thanksgiving centerpiece for your dining room table. Don’t forget to buy a tablecloth and placemats with a Thanksgiving theme. You can find these items for as little as $1 a piece. Dollar Tree also has some cute Thanksgiving plates that you may enjoy.

Some items your children may enjoy making may be to trace their hands and make turkeys out of the handprint. You can have them color the turkeys and hang on windows or doors. You can make napkin holders and have your children decorate them for Thanksgiving. Start with the cardboard from the paper towel rolls. Then cut them into one to two-inch rings and decorate. If your children are older you may let them make a centerpiece for your table.
However you choose to decorate, just enjoy the Holiday. It is time to be together and enjoy the family.
