Who Is Founder of Baby Einstein Products?
The first Baby Einstein Product was a simple video created in 1996 in Georgia.
The founder of Baby Einstein products was a stay at home mom and former teacher Julie Aigner- Clark who got the idea for her video when looking for an entertaining and stimulating video for her own child.
Finding none she decided to make her own. So she and her husband, filmed the video during their own child’s nap time and late at night.
Filming the video was somewhat costly, so Julie offered the video for sale in the hope of paying for the cost of the video.
Mom’s and tots loved the video and the Aigners made a huge profit from the video, leading to their next video, and their next.
When the company became too large to continue running from their home with just the two of them, the Aigners sold their company to the Walt Disney Company.
From Videos to Toys
Finding the idea of the Baby Einstein videos unique, Disney took the idea and ran with it, not only producing more videos, but educational toys as well.
Eventually, the videos lost popularity and Disney ended their production (though some can still be found here and there.)
However, the educational toys manufactured under this name continue to be popular with tots and parents today.
Where the Name Came From
The name of the company comes from the renown physicists, Albert Einstein, and the baby Einstein company pays large royalties to the late scientist’s estate for use of the name.
However, the products themselves have nothing to do with Einstein’s work.
While there really is no explanation as to why the company was named Baby Einstein in the first place, one can only assume that it was the founder’s belief that stimulating a child’s love of learning early in life, would result in children who were high achievers who might someday earn the same respect for their contributions to the world that Albert Einstein earned during his lifetime.
One thing is sure, these Baby Einstein toys continue to be popular with parents and loved by infants and toddlers as they provide a way for children to begin learning while having fun.
